As the season changes, so are a few things around here! From our new checkout system and a few temporary pauses to some exciting progress on our new retail space, we’ve got lots of updates to share. Thank you for sticking with us—we’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to have you along for the ride!
We’re Updating Our Checkout System!
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we make exciting updates at the Kilgus Farmstead Country Store. We know change can take a little getting used to, and we’re so grateful to have such an understanding community as we grow!
Here’s what to expect starting May 2nd…
🛒 New Checkout System
We’re transitioning to an official Point of Sale (POS) system to better serve you! This first step will allow us to accept more forms of payment, including credit cards—and it lays the groundwork for some exciting updates we’re planning down the road. Stay tuned!
💵 Pricing + Tax
In the past, tax was included in our shelf prices. With this new system, sales tax will now be added at checkout. But don’t worry—we’re still committed to keeping things affordable.
💰 Cash Discount
Still prefer to pay with cash? You’ll receive a cash discount at checkout as a thank-you for helping us keep transaction fees low.
🙋♀️ Personalized Checkout Experience
We’re moving away from self-checkout so our team can provide one-on-one assistance at the register. This ensures a smoother, more personal shopping experience every time you visit.
⏰ Updated Closing Time Policy
As we staff the store during open hours, we’ll be closing at posted hours. We kindly ask that your shopping occur during regular business hours.
🕗 Country Store Hours (starting May)
Monday–Thursday: 8 AM – 8 PM
Friday–Saturday: 8 AM – 9 PM
New Retail Space Update
We’re getting so close to moving into our new retail space—and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you! While we’re aiming for mid to late May, we’re holding off on announcing an official opening date just yet (you know how these things go).
The outside of the building is buttoned up, the inside is fully framed, and the walk-in coolers are in place. Right now, crews are working on tiling, adding finishes like the checkout counter, and wrapping up the restrooms. It’s coming together beautifully—and we can’t wait to show you!

2025 Breakfast on the Farm
Every June, Kilgus Farmstead proudly hosts Breakfast on the Farm in celebration of June Dairy Month. It’s our way of honoring local farmers, our community, and all the wonderful patrons who make what we do possible.
Join us for a hearty farm-fresh breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs, milk, juice, or coffee — just $1 per plate!
Enjoy self-guided farm tours, games and activities for the kids, and of course, great company for the grown-ups too.

Farm tours are currently paused while we focus on exciting facility updates at Kilgus Farmstead! While we’re busy improving our space, tours will return in the future—we can’t wait to welcome you back.
